Another great museum in Washington DC. Although it is important to know that unlike most museums in DC it is not free. An adult ticket costs $22.00 per adult.
Parking is behind the museum with metered spots along the street. Inside the museum there is a small room with tables and vending machines. You can buy snacks from the machines or bring your own packed lunch.
The exhibits are unique and diverse. We enjoyed everyone of them. Many are interactive. You come away from this museum with a complete understanding and appreciation of the history of law enforcement in the United States. We spent well over three hours visiting and could’ve spent at least and hour more.
They have a good size gift shop with something for everyone. We will definitely return.
Being a law enforcement officer, I have visited the LEO memorial on several occasions. The museum, however, has always been closed on my previous visits. I finally got to go inside and it was quite an experience. Lots of history of policing in there with many artifacts. Take your time while browsing to allow yourself to enjoy all of the displays and experiences inside!
Highly interactive with plenty of unique historical artifacts and informative displays. Would recommend everyone attends at least once and visit the memorial afterwards to truly appreciate everything you have witnessed and learned.
As a retired law enforcement officer I really enjoyed this Museum and all the work they put into honoring all the officers both active Fallen and past officers that have served.
Be sure to visit while in DC. Took our 13 year old niece and we all enjoyed it. We are not law enforcement so I think most people will find the interactive exhibits interesting. Especially enjoyed the video on training K9 dogs and 911 simulator. A couple of the live action simulators were not being conducted which we were sorry to miss.
Very nice memorial to remember the fallen. Our person had been added this year and the book was up to date.
I retired after 35 and a half years in law enforcement. This was my first visit. Awesome Museum that depicts the history of law enforcement and the many departments throughout the country. The museum is across from the law enforcement memorial. Please take a moment to visit both.
The National law officer museum was very interesting. Famous criminals, raids FBI cars, choppers and helicopters. Lots of hands on experience, training videos.
